Flame And Thunder Show
Santa Pod Raceway - UK
6th November 2004
The traditional season finale at Santa Pod was spoiled somewhat my very wet conditions. Some classes got in qualifying before 2 hours of rain around lunchtime stopped proceedings. The track crew did a sterling job trying to dry the track but with the dampness present in the air it was never going to be dry enough for racing. However the huge crowd were kept entertained by some excellent stunt shows and flame shows from the large assortment of jet vehicles that were present. Michael Kooy was the star of the show - performing skid turns and donuts on his jet quad! The Fuel Altereds also put on a good show - dry hopping to the line. Around 5:20pm Andy Carter and Thomas Nattass came out for a Top Fuel match race. Conditions were far from ideal but Thomas nailed the throttle on the green and launched very hard - he sensibly shut off before half track. In the other lane Andy had RPM gremlins and left slowly away from the line and feathered the throttle down the track. The day was brought to a close with a large firework display.
