EASTER THUNDERBALL - SANTA POD

MONDAY

Fine and sunny weather ensured a good end to the meeting. A sizeable crowd got to see some good racing but unfortunately also a lot of down time. It turned out to be one of those days where a lot of cars break and a lot of time is spent clearing oil, still it can't be helped and the track crew did there usual excellent job of bringing the surface back into use.

The Pro Fuel Shootout was won by Smax Smith beating Gordon Smith with a fantastic pass. Unfortunately there was a malfunction with the timing equipment and Smax was recorded as running 4.55, obviously wrong, to us it looked more like a low five or a four nine... we understand Smax is saying 5.07. The final of Top Methanol was hell of a drag race... won and lost on the startline Turner (5.65 @ 238 - .503 RT) beat Wilson (5.70 @245 - .540 RT)

We also saw another amazing pass from Eric Teboul and the rocket bike (6.17 @180) The 1/8 mile time  being the fastest recorded by a bike in the world!

In all a good start to the season, lots of teams still finding there feet at this early stage, but still some lots of good racing... we can't wait to see what's to come!

Hope you enjoyed our updates this weekend. Some pictures are posted below.

Bill Sherratt blew the burst panel again today... fortunately no engine damage today.

John Sleath was having a good weekend in his CCSE Audi....

.... then this afternoon things went badly wrong. A part broke on the car spraying oil under the slick, despite a brilliant attempt at keeping the car going straight John couldn't avoid striking the barrier. Although shaken John is unhurt.

The damage done to the car looks quite severe... we wish John all the best and hope to see him out again later in the season.

And that's all... hope you enjoyed it.
