MOPAR EURO NATS - SANTA POD

SATURDAY
Back To Event Home

The weather man promised glorious sunshine all day today... he was nearly right after a cloudy start the 9th Annual Mopar Euro Nationals were bathed in sun all afternoon. Racing got underway just after ten and was scheduled to finish around 5pm. There were a lot more cars and spectators here than last year and we were pleased to see a fair few race cars ( those we usually see at bigger events). The racing takes place in a R.W.Y.B format. There is no race order... cars can queue up and race as many times as they can fit in. This is great for racers as they can get in many more runs than they would at a bigger event and so collect lots of valuable set up data.

Dave Day was almost 'hot-lapping' in his broggie roadster. We reckon he put in about 8 or 9 passes. The best time we saw was a 9.70 at 147 but he may have run faster. Paul Marston was put in a few passes in the PT Bruiser. They were all well off the usual pace but we understand Paul is trying a new setup. Wayne Nicholson was out in his BMW have a scary ride to a 12 second pass this morning. Wayne was off the throttle 3 times on the way up the track... every time he got back on the car started to get very sideways. Ian Bishop put in some passes in his Super Pro car. The best time I caught was an early shutoff 8.37 at 163.

There was only one short holdup when a car left a pile of oil and bits of metal on the startline. There were a few new race cars about today which we hadn't seen before... we will bring you news of these tomorrow.

In all a nice day out... plenty to watch on the track... some nice cars in the pits and show and shine. Hopefully a few more will arrive tomorrow and we will see some even better action on the track.

A small selection of photos have been posted below. If you would like copies of any or want to see what we haven't put up please email us... we may have a picture of your car!

Thanks for tuning in...

Gary

We love this Willy's pickup... would it look better with a bonnet?
