The Flame And Thunder Show - Santa Pod - 3rd November 2001 |
||
| Below are the live updates that we
posted during the afternoon. A brief report of the action can be found by clicking
here.
2.55pm Gary Page has just put in a pass in Andy Carters Top Fuel Dragster. Page launched hard but then hit tyre shake at about 60ft. 3.30pm Martin Hill has just put in a pass in the Fireforce Jet Funny Car. The car sounded a bit dodgy off the line... he backed off and then hit it hard again at half track. The car stormed through the finish line to record a great 245 mph terminal speed. ET was 6.69. Rob Faulkner in the Crossfire Camero has had to retire from the "big bracket" due to a broken transmission. The weather is great at the moment... sunny and not too cold. There is a huge crowd at the moment and it will be packed later on. Steve Murty is currently performing in his wheelie truck. 4.30pm The sun is just setting at the Pod and we are mid way through the first round of eliminations. The crowd is still pouring in. Terry Grant has just put in his usual good show in his legend car as has Jason Finn on his trials bike. Fireforce is just coming round for another run. Stay tuned for more updates. 4.45pm Martin Hill has just put in another fantastic run in the Fireforce Jet Car. He ran 5.99 at 255mph. Our good friend Tog from Eurodragster operated the tree! Junior dragsters are running at the moment. 6pm The "Grudge Match" has just taken place. Barry Sheavills ran a 5.81 at 176mph to beat Andy Cater who only managed a sixteen second pass. Both cars launched really hard with wing high header flames. Barry shutoff at 3/4 track and Carter at the 1/8 mile. A good race for this time of year. We've got the second round of the brackets to come and Terry Grant in his Legend car will be round next. The jet will run again later. Stay tuned. 7.50pm The jets have run again - Fireforce 1 ran 7.42 at 163mph. Fireforce 2 sounded a bit rough but ran 6.79 at 201mph. The firework display has just finished... the jet drier is being used to remove their debris from the track and then there will be some more racing. We went to see Barry Sheavills and asked him what he thought about his run earlier this evening. He said "I am really happy and amazed because I didn't think it would run that well. My visor was steamed up from the 1/8th!" Thanks for stopping by to read our updates... don't forget to read our Report and to visit the Fans Forum.
